Solution

The correct option is D Engler and Prantl
Engler and Prantl (1886) first proposed the Phylogenetic System of Classification. The Engler and Prantl system of classification is based on evolutionary sequence as well as genetic relationships among different groups of plants. They considered the monocot to be more primitive than dicot.

Hutchinson's system (1926 -1934) was one of the most influential revisions of taxonomy in the early twentieth century and one of the best phylogenetic systems of classification.

R.H. Whittaker proposed the Five Kingdom Classification based on the characteristics such as cell structure, mode of nutrition, source of nutrition and body organisation of the living organisms.

Takhtajan was a Soviet-Armenian botanist, whose classification was based on plant evolution and systematics and biogeography. He was known for the ‘Takhtajan system’ of flowering plant classification. Takhtajan was one of the most important figures in 20th century plant evolution and systematics and biogeography.
