Guru Angad born as Bhai Lehna the second of the ten Sikh gurus. He invented the present form of the Gurmukhi script which became the medium of writing the Punjabi language in which the hymns of the Gurus are expressed. He modified the pre-existing Indo-European scripts in northern parts of the Indian subcontinent so as to formalize the Gurmukhi alphabet.
