Shah Jahan born in 1592 was the fifth Mughal emperor who is known as the 'Prince of Builder'. He was one of the greatest patrons of Mughal architecture. He built the Taj Mahal which is the masterpiece of his reign and was erected in memory of the wife Mumtaz Mahal. It was constructed with great care by architects called from all over the world. He preferred to rule the Mughal Empire from Delhi. He founded the walled city of Shahjahanabad in 1638 which today is known as Old Delhi.
