Introduction to chromatography

  1. This technique was introduced by M. S. Tswett, a Russian botanist in 1906.
  2. It is a method based on the difference in the rate of adsorption of various components of a mixture on a suitable adsorbent.

There are four types of chromatography namely,

  1. Paper chromatography
  2. Column chromatography
  3. Thin layer chromatography
  4. Gas chromatography

Thus, M. S. Tswett, a Russian botanist in 1906 introduced chromatography.
