Solution
Although scientists previously had theorized and claimed light to have particle-like nature, it was Albert Einstein in 1905, who confirmed that light had indeed particle-like nature.
The photoelectric effect is a phenomenon in which electromagnetic radiation incident on metal causes the emission of bound electrons from the metal surface.
According to Einstein, in the photoelectric effect, the incident light is quantized and each (light) particle which is known as a photon, has an energy that is proportional to the frequency of the incident light.
Light was already proven to show wave-like properties and hence the conclusion made by Einstein showed that light could be explained both as a wave and a particle.
Hence, Albert Einstein was effectively the person to discover the wave-particle duality of light.
