Solution

Sir Gregor John Mendel (1822–1884) is regarded as 'Father of genetics'. His hybridization experiments with Garden Pea (Pisum sativum) from 1856–1863 led to the discovery of fundamental principles of inheritance and genetics. His 3 postulates formed the basis of further research and studies in the field of genetics and the basic laws of genetics, i.e. Law of Dominance, Law of Independent Assortment and Law of Segregation are still applicable.
