It is referred to as the method of increasing agricultural produce by including modern tools and techniques.
Green Revolution is associated with agricultural production.
M. S. Swaminathan is known as the father of the Green Revolution in India.
It is the phase when agriculture of the country was changed into an industrial system with the help of modern methods and techniques such as the use of high-yielding variety seeds, modern equipment such as tractors, proper irrigation, use of pesticides and fertilisers.
Until 1967, the government chiefly focused on expanding the farmlands.
But the rapid increase in population as compared to the food production required immediate action to increase the production which came up in the form of the green revolution.
