Gregor Johann Mendel is known as the father of genetics.
Genetics is the study that deals with heredity, variation, and genes in an organism.
He discovered the fundamental law of inheritance.
He did his experiment on a pea plant and stated that factors are passed from parents to progeny, now known as genes which are always present in pairs.
Based on his experiment he formed three laws:
Law of dominance: - when two parents with pure and contrasting characters are crossed together, only one character which is in superior or dominant condition will appear in the first generation.
law of segregation: -During gamete formation, each gene is separate from the other, so only one gene is present for an allele.
Law of independent assortment: - it states that when a dihybrid cross occurs, the genes from the same chromosome randomly combine or become independently assorted.
