Solution: The Chief Minister is the real executive head of the state. As the head of the State Government, he/she is responsible for looking after the administration of the state.

Functions of the Chief Minister-
  1. Decides the members of the Council of Ministers
  2. Allocates portfolios/departments to the members of the Council of Ministers
  3. Formulates laws and policies for the welfare of the citizens of the state
  4. Advises the Governor of the State regarding the appointments to the key posts in the state
