  • Bharatendu Harishchandra is known as the father of Hindi literature
  • He was born on 9th September 1850. He died on 6 January 1885.

  • He tried to shape public opinions, he sought a ban on cow slaughter, he told people to use Swadeshi articles and products, and he pleaded for replacing Urdu with Hindi in the courts.
  • He believed in image worship and said devotion to a single god is known as Bhakti.
