Law of chemical combination:

The law of chemical combinations explains the formation of compounds by the chemical association of two or more elements. The laws dealing with mass are:

  • Law of conservation of mass - Mass can neither be created nor destroyed, it only changes from one form to another.
  • Law of constant or definite proportions - When different elements combine to give a pure compound, the ratio between the masses of these elements always remains the same.

The foundation of the laws was laid by Antoine L. Lavoisier.
