Muslim league was formed under the leadership of Aga Khan, the Nawab of Dhaka and Nawab Mohsin-ul-Mulk on December 30, 1906. It was founded to safeguard the rights of Indian Muslims, to counter Congress influences, and to support the British administration. The first session was held at Amritsar in 1908 where Sayed Ali Imam was the President.
