  • Give a brief introduction about Mohammed bin Tughlaq
  • Write one reform each in

    • Land
    • Economy
  • Write about the impacts of the reforms
Solution:
  • Mohammed bin Tughlaq acquired the throne of the dynasty after Ghiyasuddin’s death. He was the first Delhi sultan to establish an empire in India.
  • He shifted his capital from Delhi to Devagiri as a precaution from foreign invasion.
His subjects suffered as precautions were not taken.
  • He established a department of agriculture which helped in making uncultivable lands cultivable and provided various schemes to support farmers financially, but people from the Do-ab region had to pay more taxes.
  • He introduced a new gold coin called dinar, and a silver coin called adli. Due to the lack of a proper minting body, many coins were minted which resulted in chaos in the country.
