Napoleon Bonaparte, also known as Napoleon I, was a French general and emperor who conquered large parts of Europe in the 19th century.
Members of the directory often fought among themselves leading to total chaos and political instability which created a political vacuum in France. This was a conducive situation and Napoleon Bonaparte took the reign of power as a military dictator in France.
in 1804 after becoming the emperor of France,Napoleon conquered neighbouring European countries, dispossessing dynasties and creating kingdoms where he placed members of his family, he introduced several laws such as the protection of private property and a uniform system of weight and measures provided by the decimal system.
But very soon the Napoleonic armies lost their trust in people. They came to be regarded as an invading force and in 1815, he was finally defeated in the battle of Waterloo.
