Who was the first woman Deputy Director of RBI?
K J Udeshi today took charge as the deputy governor of Reserve Bank of India, becoming the first woman to hold the position. Udeshi, who fills the slot after G P Muniappan retired on May 31, would hold charge till October 12, 2005 when she attains the age of 62 . Born in 1943, Udeshi joined RBI in 1965 and rose from the ranks to be appointed as executive director in 2001.
