Jobbers were those people who were employed by industrialists to recruit the right people among the job seekers. Very often the jobber was an old and trusted worker.
Role of a Jobber was as follows
(i) He got people from his village, ensured them jobs, helped them settle in the city and also provided money in times of crisis. Jobbers became a person with some authority and power.
(ii) As the recruitment in factories increased, jobbers started demanding money and gifts for their favours and controlling the lives of workers.
