Napoleon Bonaparte was a military general who became the first king of France.He came to power as an Emperor in May 18, 1804.

Napoleon was finally defeated in the battle of Waterloo in 1815 a the hands of the Duke of Wellington.

Administrative Reforms brought about by Napoleon:


1.He introduced Civil Code in 1804 which abolished privileges based on birth, set up equality before law and secured the right to property.

2.Guild restrictions were lifted up.his provided freedom to traders and businessmen.

3.Fuedal system was abolished and serfs were freed in the Dutch Republic, in Germany, Italy and Switzerland.

4.Uniform laws were established.

5.A system of standardised weights and measures and a common national currency system was also introduced which simplified trade.
