Who were Rashtrakutas?
Rashtrakutas was a royal dynasty that ruled large parts of Indian subcontinent from the 6th century to the 10th century. The religions that were popularly followed during the rule of Rashtrakutas were Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism. The common languages were Kannada and Sanskrit. Manyaketa was the capital of the Rashtrakuta empire. Some of the important contributions are the Kashi Vishwanath temple and the Jain Narayana temple at Pattadakal in modern Karnataka, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Rashtrakuta empire when they were at their peak ruled from the Ganges River and Yamuna River doab in the North to Kanyakumari in the South.
