Question

Why a flying airplane does not cast its shadow on earth?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Any object which comes between the path of light-ray casts a shadow.
  2. But here, the airplane is so far above the ground, that the light ray coming from sideways illuminates the shadow supposed to be cast on the ground.
  3. If you go to airport and see an airplane on the ground, you can see its shadow on the runway but not when it is flying.
