Why a gun recoils when a shot is fired from it?

Open in App
Solution

  1. When a man fires a bullet from a gun the bullet moves forward due to the action force.
  2. It applies opposite reaction to the gun to move the gun backward with the same force.
  3. As the mass of the gun is very large compared to the mass of the bullet the gun recoils a little distance and pushes the man backwards.
