Question

Why a metal knob appears to be colder than a wooden knob in the same atmosphere.

Open in App
Solution

1-Metal appears cool on touching because heat flows from body (at higher temperature) to metal (at lower temperature).

2-This can happen only when metal conducts heat.

3-Wooden surface does not feel cool as it is non-conductor of heat.

Hence, a metal knob appears to be colder than a wooden knob in the same atmosphere.
