why a photoelectric cell is also called an electrical eye ?

Electrical eye is a photo detector which uses a photoelectric cell to detect obstruction of a light beam, as photoelectric cell produce electric current when light falls on it, and stop the production of electric current when light falling on it obstruct, hence it is conveniently used for the above purpose.Electrical eye generally used door safety system, highway vehicle counter etc.
