Question

why absorption is not a surface phenomenon

Open in App
Solution

Absorption happens in the whole bulk of a substance. For instance consider a sponge absorbing water, the water will be present in the whole body of the sponge and not just on the surface. So it is a bulk phenomena and not a surface phenomena. In the case of surface phenomena, the process occurs only on the surface of the material.
