Solution

Dear student

The sewage or industry effluent water is nutrient rich and also have aerobic and anaerobic both type of bacteria. During aeration step the environment is good for growing of aerobic bacteria because sufficient amount of oxygen is present in waste water due to aeration . Anaerobic bacteria is also present there but they does not grow as like aerobic bacteria due adverse environment. That is why during aeration aerobic respiration occur not anaerobic respiration.
