Why all plants are not green?

Open in App
Solution

Some plants don't look green because in addition to chlorophyll they contain other pigments which manifest stronger within the spectrum that we perceive as visible light. But they still contain chlorophyll.

There are also plants with no chlorophyll and which must rely totally on the contents of the host xylem and phloem. These are parasites. Examples are dodder and broomrape.

Saprophytes are organisms that obtain nourishment from dead or decaying organic matter. They are not green in color. And there are algaes have no color .Green color in plants is due to the presence of chlorophyll
