Question

Why aluminium bromide is a poor conductor of electricity in molten state?

Open in App
Solution

Aluminium bromide changes its structure from ionic to covalent when the solid turns to a liquid or vapour. Liquid or molten AlBr3 which is covalent in nature does not contain free Al3 + or Br- ions to conduct electricity.
