why aluminium powder is used to reduce oxides of metals like manganese instead of carbon

Dear student,

The metals with the higher reactivity does not get reduced using carbon due to lower reactivity of carbon as compared to these metals. Aluminium being highly reactive easily reduces reactive metals.
Hence, aluminium powder is used.
