Question

Why an aedes mosquito cannot carry malarial parasite

Open in App
Solution

The malarial parasite once ingested by the mosquito must undergo some development inside the mosquito for its effective transmission. Aedes mosquitoes cannot transmit malaria to humans as they are poor vectors in which malarial parasite does not develop well. There is also variation between the species like they have less innate susceptibility to Plasmodium that prevents their development and transmission by these mosquitoes.
