Why an object submerged in water appears to be more closer than it's real depth ?

Open in App
Solution

We see the objects closer than their real depth to the surface. We see objects only if the rays coming from them reaches our eyes. Refractive index of water being different from that of air. So when rays come from the object submerged in water , the rays are refracted . So we see the object closer.
