Question

Why are bacteria so small?

Open in App
Solution

Bacteria

  1. Prokaryotes with only single-celled are bacteria.
  2. For eating, passing waste, and carrying out all other life activities, they have a small space available.
  3. Large cells would also have large levels of cellular activity.
  4. As a result, the bacteria may starve or get toxic from the waste if food or waste takes longer to migrate across the walls.
  5. Because they need to carry out operations, bacteria come in a variety of sizes and forms.
  6. More energy-efficient and steady they get as their size decreases.
  7. So they can transfer their metabolites into and out of the cell more easily and with less energy expenditure.
  8. Thus, in contrast to larger creatures, it may reproduce and expand swiftly with minimal nutritional support.
