Cannabinoids are a group of drugs obtained from leaves, resins, and inflorescence of Cannabis sativa. Examples include bhang, charas, ganja, marijuna.


Effects of cannabinoids:

The brain is the principal location of the cannabinoid receptors. Cannabinoids have remarkable influence and affect the cardiovascular system.

Ban on cannabinoids:
  • Cannabinoids are used to ease the pain and inflammation of the muscles.
  • These drugs are used by players to prevent early exhaustion and help the players in enhancing their performance.
  • So-called 'performance-enhancing drugs' or 'performance and image-enhancing drugs' are banned in sports because they could give a sportsperson an unfair advantage over other competitors.
  • This is the reason why these drugs are banned as they may cause problems to the health of the layers in the long run.
