Question

Why are chloroplasts green?

Open in App
Solution

Chloroplasts:

  1. Because chlorophyll is present, the chloroplast appears green.
  2. Because it absorbs blue and red light and reflects green light, chlorophyll is green.
  3. The reason why something seems green to the human eye is that it transmits and/or reflects "green" portions of the visible light spectrum, while more or less absorbing other wavelengths.
