Why are d and f block element less electropositive than group 1 and 2 elements?

Dear student D and F block elements are in the middle of the periodic table whereas group 1 and group 2 elements lie on left side of the periodic table. The electropositive character decreases when one move from left to right in a period as ionization enthalpy increases. Regards
