Question

Why are electrovalent compounds insoluble in solvent but are soluble in water??

Open in App
Solution

Dear student, Electrovalent compounds are not soluble in organic solvents, as these solvents do not contain ions which can interact with ions of the electrovalent compounds and thus dissolve them. As we know that like dissolves like, therefore electrovalent compounds will be soluble in inorganic solvents like water which contains ions. Regards
