Why are glass jars and bottles dried well before filling them with pickles?

Glass jars and bottles are dried before pickling in order to prevent the spoilage of pickles stored inside them. If there is any water present in the jar, it will be absorbed by the pickles and it will be spoilt. Hence it is important to dry the pickle jar before adding the pickles.
