Why are human beings who look so different from each other in terms of size, colour and looks said to belong to the same species ?

Although human beings vary widely in size, colour, and looks, the genetic makeup of human beings is similar. The variations in size, colour and looks are a result of the different levels of expression of these traits. However at the genetic level, humans have the same organization. Hence they all belong to the same species.
