Question

Why are lysosomes known as ‘suicidal bags’ of a cell?

Open in App
Solution

Lysosomes:

  1. Suicidal sacks of cells refer to lysosomes.
  2. Hydrolytic enzymes can be found in them.
  3. The lysosomes autolyze and burst open when the cell is injured.
  4. The hydrolytic enzymes are then released as a result.
  5. The enzymes that have been unleashed then degrade their cell, causing the cell to die.
  6. As a result, they're referred to as cell suicidal bags.
