Why are open-end distributions used?
When few data items are either very small or considerably large, then they are known as extreme values or extreme items. In order to avoid such extreme items in the frequency distribution, we may need so many class-intervals that the distribution will become unwieldy. To avoid such unwanted classes, open-end classes are used.
