Solution

Prokaryotes: The three-domain system classified prokaryotes into 2 groups i.e. bacteria and archaea.

  1. Bacterial Cells:
    1. Unicellular organisms found everywhere on earth from soil to the human body i.e. cosmopolitan
    2. They show great diversity in shapes and structures.
    3. Their cell wall is made up of peptidoglycan helping in providing structure to the cell wall.
    4. Bacteria also possess pili, flagella and capsule.
    5. Possess extrachromosomal DNA called as plasmids.
  2. Archaeal Cells:
    1. Unicellular organisms that are similar to bacteria in shape and size.
    2. They are found in extreme environmental conditions like hot springs and other places such as soil, marshes, and even inside humans.
    3. They even have a cell wall and flagella and does not contain peptidoglycan.
    4. They also have plasmids.
