Question

Why are protozoa called early animals?

Open in App
Solution

Protozoa (pro-ancient! zoo - animal) are calledearly animals because like animals they have holozoic nutrition and glycogen as food reserve. They have, however, unicellular nature and are without an embryo stage. Protozoa evolved before the evolution of true animals or metazoa.
