Why are road accidents at high speeds very much worse than road accidents at low speeds ?

Considering from the point of Physics, a body travelling with higher speeds have higher momentum.( Since momentum = mass x velocity).
Therefore , If an accident occurs these momentum are to be transferred somewhere. Hence accidents occruing at higher speeds are much worse than at lower speeds.
