Why are school bells made up of metal?

Metals are sonorous:-

• Metals are sonorous, that is they can produce sound when struck.
• The particles of the bell that makes it up start to vibrate when it is struck.
• That is the particles move to and fro, and these vibrations are sustained for a longer period of time in the metals.
• Due to this vibration of the particles, the ringing sound is caused which the students can hear loud and clear.
• This is the reason why the bells in schools are made of metals.
