  • Some liquid medicines can react with light, so they are kept in dark colored bottles to prevent the medicines from sun light.
  • Dark colored bottle act as filter and prevent the reactions which can take place when medicines are exposed to light.

Example

  • Dark colored bottle prevent decomposition of silver chloride into silver and chlorine.
  • Hydrogen Peroxide is one of the example, when we keep it in sunlight, it breaks into oxygen gas and water, hence it is also stored in dark coloured bottles.
