Some molecules produced by certain living organisms, perform functions in the body of other organisms and modify metabolism. So they are termed as bioactive molecules. For examples:
(a) Cyclosporin-A:- It is used as an immunosuppressive agent in organ-transplant patients.
(b) Statins:- It has been commercialized as cholesterol-lowering agents.
