Solution
The coils of electric toasters and electric irons are made of an alloy rather than a pure metal because the resistivity of an alloy is higher than the pure metal$.
Also at high temperatures, the alloys do not melt easily that is the melting point of the alloy is greater than that of metals.
Due to high resistivity, alloys have high resistance and therefore have a greater heating effect which is useful in toasting.
