Why are the main characteristics of the type of soil which are ideal for growing cotton where they are found?

Black soil is best for growing cotton. In India, it is found in the Deccan Plateau region, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh. Some of the characteristics of black soil are:

1. It has high content of humus.

2. It is rich in nutrients like potash, calcium carbonate, magnesium,etc.

3. It has excellent water holding capacity and aeration

4. It has good drainage property and thus prevents water logging.
