The northern plains are formed by the depositions of the Himalayan River, this area is densely populated because this area is deposited by large rivers like Indus and Ganga. These depositions have made the northern plains a fertile region. The region is known for its better agricultural yield as water is always available for irrigation. Other than agricultural activities many industries are also established in this region especially the industries which require water. The water for drinking purposes is also available in abundance. Due to these reasons, a large population has got settled in this region.
