Question

Why are the solar cell panels not used on large scale?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Solar cells on average produce 0.7 watts of energy. Due to this low output, the cells are combined to form a large panel and used.
  2. The output of solar cells is in DC (Direct current) format whereas for usage we need it in AC (Alternating current) format.
  3. The conversion cost of DC to AC is high and it needs to be stored before conversion, which is a hassle.

Hence, solar cell panels are not used on large scale.
