Solution
Tank is a source of irrigation where water is stored in artificially
constructed reservoirs of any size. Often a tank is constructed across a slope
so to collect and store water by taking advantage of local mounds and
depressions.
Tank irrigation requires less cost of construction and is
very useful in areas where the relief is mostly of hard rock. Hence construction
of more tanks help in overcoming shortage of water. That is why government is
taking steps to improve tank irrigation by providing loans.
