why are there different modes of reproduction?

There are variety of organisms present on the earth.They have different ploidy and hence reproduction also are different modes.
Some organisms reproduce by asexual method which is very fast where as some reproduce by sexual method which needs more time.
So all these are based on the requirement of the organisms.
